Individual Therapy Connecting you with your inner wisdom
When we get to this point of reaching out for help, it can be a daunting process. Therapy is ultimately a place to uncover the patterns that are no longer serving you so you can step into a more wise and authentic version of yourself. The uncomfortable symptoms you are experiencing, whether it has to do with anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, low self esteem, failed relationships, or any other number of things, are signs that something wants to change. We can uncover the true source, instead of covering it up with a Band-Aid. Together we will work together to heal and shed light on areas there has been shadow and pain.
Therapy is ultimately a moment to say yes to a greater understanding of you. It is a place to come back to the truth of you who are, who you were, before all the “stuff” got in the way.
Rarely do we take the time to really focus on ourselves in this busy world we live in. Rarely do we slow down enough to feel what we are feeling or fully embrace the moment we are in.When we are moving so fast, it can be difficult to see what is causing our distress and we start blaming it on our external circumstances, such as our jobs, relationships, family circumstances, etc. We can find a million reasons outside of ourselves that are in our way of getting what we want or living the life we have imagined.
Starting therapy means you are ready to look within yourself for the answers. To slow down and thank yourself for taking care of you in whatever way is needed, and then moving forward.
We use many techniques during our work to create an individualized support plan that will meet your specific needs. This isn’t cookie cutter therapy. We use compassionate, yet directive approaches that will really help you reach outside of your comfort zone and push your edges. Outside of your comfort zone is where the magic happens, and we will offer you a safe and nonjudgmental place to explore your highest highs and lowest lows, and everything in between.
We often use nature metaphors. With backgrounds of growing up in the woods, experience as wilderness guides, and training as wilderness therapists, it comes naturally. Our logo speaks to the depth of our relationship to nature as well- when we are rooted, we can expand. And, just as the seasons change, we change. We have daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal changes in our lives. Our fast-tracked lives often disconnect us from the more subtle and powerful messages we receive, which often inform us what we need to be the healthiest versions of ourselves we can be. Healing Tree Counseling & Wellness can support you in unraveling your unique identity, blueprint, and what you need to heal and expand.
You will leave therapy with a greater sense of peace, control over your life, and the resources to take care of yourself outside of the office. You will build your capacity for love and you will know your dark places intimately, so they are no longer scary and have control over you.
Step into a wiser and more authentic version of yourself
Connecting you with nature
Another modality we offer is Nature-Based Therapy. We implement various nature-based interventions into our therapeutic relationships throughout our work together as is appropriate and of interest.
At HealingTree Counseling and Wellness, we define Nature Based Therapy as The conscious incorporation of the natural world into the therapeutic process. Nature Based Therapy has has roots in worldwide indigenous histories, as well as in modern-day fields of Adventure Therapy, Outdoor Education, Wilderness Questing, Ecopsychology, and Ecotherapy.
WHAT DOES NATURE-BASED THERAPY LOOK LIKE?
The conscious incorporation of the natural world into the therapeutic process can look like so many things. In a therapeutic process, generally there is a particular identified goal or intention for the work. This will determine the practices and interventions that are facilitated.
IT MIGHT LOOK LIKE THIS:
Opening up to our senses or our own free flow of attention in the outdoors
Engaging in Mindfulness practices in nature
In person, Zoom or ideas to practice in between sessions
Engaging challenges in the natural world such as rock-climbing, rafting, or hiking
Having conversations with the natural world (plants, animals, rock, water, and so on)
Finding metaphor for life, health, death, resilience, and more in nature
Creating and performing personalized ceremony or ritual outdoors
Being in relationship with the elements and the unpredictability of the weather
Moving our bodies and feeling our own breath and aliveness
Disconnecting from technology or our daily routines and slowing down to earth time
Creating art within the natural world
Having the time and space to let our minds wander and to act spontaneously in relationship with the natural world
Aimlessly wandering and allowing ourselves to listen to and follow curiosity
Consciously engaging in relationship with animals
Tending a garden
